Crossview EFCA

Youth Pastor Job Description

Crossview is an Evangelical Free church located in north central Illinois, about 60 miles west of Chicago. The Youth Pastor will serve on a vibrant church ministry team along with the Lead Pastor, Worship Pastor, and Children’s Ministry Director. The Youth Pastor will oversee and direct the middle school and high school youth groups. Presently, the high school group meets on Sunday evenings and the middle school group on Wednesdays. Small groups meet throughout the week.

Crossview is a church committed to discipleship and to the spiritual flourishing of all who attend. Additionally, Crossview has adopted the “up, in, and out” philosophy of ministry. For the youth ministry, this means providing opportunities for individuals to know God, to serve each other, and to serve our neighborhoods and world in the way of Jesus. In recent years, the youth groups have experienced “up, in, and out” dynamics through weekly large group meetings, small groups, retreats, ministering at retirement facilities, and both national and international mission/vision trips.

Operating in this framework, the new Youth Pastor will have the opportunity to creatively structure the youth ministry to help our young people grow closer to Jesus, to help them love the church, and to prompt the youth to share the love of Christ in their spheres and around the world. While our youth ministry has been healthy, there will be opportunities to reimagine the structures of the ministry in this post-pandemic world.
